"I have always been an artist. Art is the first thing I remember falling in love with; my first easel was at age 5."
-Wendy Myers
My objective is to create a piece of art that thoroughly encompasses what you imagined when you hired me! I strive to maintain a positive relationship and avoid any unhappy surprises at all times!
To accomplish this I follow a set, procedure that helps me to fully understand exactly what you want, and you to understand exactly what it will cost and how long it will take.
First I like to meet with you to determine what you want in terms of subject, size, design preferences, delivery date, and other details. If distance is an issue we can accomplish this via phone, emails, etc.
Once I receive a 50% deposit I create rough sketches and sometimes a small study painting, and take lots of photos. You are also encouraged to provide me with your own photos-it helps me further understand how you perceive the subject. All of these items are then used to create the design that will become the final painting, after your approval.
We will view these sketches together and note any changes on paper. A formal agreement specific to your commission, with the delivery date, number of pieces to be done, price of pieces, framing format, and any other details, will be agreed on and signed by both of us. A 25% deposit is collected, with the final balance due upon completion of, and prior to, delivery.
I am happy to mail you a more detailed explanation of my process and a sample commission contract. Contact me here.
